Payless Car Rental's modest beginnings were established in 1971, in Spokane, Washington by Les Netterstrom and his wife Dusty. The small, two-location car rental business had a vision to become one of the biggest and one of the best.

In 1982, Payless had grown to almost 100 franchises and 1 corporate owned location. In 1983, Payless merged with Holiday Rent-A-Car in a joint business venture and changed the name to Holiday Payless Rent-A-Car. Payless Car Rental had become such as a well known name to consumers and travel industry professionals that Mr. Netterstrom decided to drop Holiday from the name to become Payless Car Rental System, Inc. By then, Les' company had grown to 150 locations including many key travel cities worldwide. In 1989, Les and his wife Dusty sold the thriving company to a Taiwanese investment group.

Today, our goal is to give greater value to the customer, by offering lower rates, better service and extended rental periods. Payless has grown from a home-town operation into an international company servicing major airports, resorts, metropolitan cities and suburban areas worldwide and ranks as one of the top 10 car rental companies.
